When life throws you a curve ball...

Today, we had Seth's ENT appointment to evaluate him for possible tubes. (Noah along for the ride, no appointment.)  He has had several ear infections in the past few weeks that have a cause for concern. He still has lots of fluid in there which could turn into infection. The fluid levels were evaluated and we will return in 4 weeks to see if they have gone down or improved. Right now, it's a waiting game for him for tubes. But more then likely he is headed down the road for tubes. We got to talking about tubes with the Doctor knowing what to expect since we have been through his rodeo with Noah 2 yrs prior. Then, Jeremy and I got to thinking, we have no idea if Noah's tubes are still in or not. The Doctor checked and sure enough his tubes are still in and need to be removed. They do not like for them to stay in longer then 2 yrs because it could cause holes in their ears! Oh and here's the curve ball, we got to talking about snoring and if Seth snores. Nope Seth doesn't snore but Noah does and bad! I have felt like Noah's tonsils are enlarged but honestly did nothing about it because he has not been sick, thinking they might go down. The doctor said let's check out Noah, so we did. And the tonsils are HUGE!!! Possibly causing sleep apnea in him at night... umm hello! So you mean my child is pausing breathing at night... yes maybe! YIKES!!! So now we have Noah to deal with... tubes need to come out along with his tonsils!!! We are waiting to see what to do with Seth and them we will got from there about dates and times for surgery.  2 kids, 2 surgery's, 1 day. Jeremy and I will have our hands full!!!

Sunday Fun-days!

I really wanted to invite some of the kids friends over for a "pool-party." I asked some of their friends and parents if they wanted to come and we have a good turn out last minute. 

Seth was not afraid of getting into the pool! He enjoyed every minute of it!

Noah LOVED the water. I have a feeling he is going to beg every weekend to pull out the pool!

The kids had fun playing in the pool while us adults had fun socializing. 

Seth and Owen enjoyed the umbrella! They wanted to stay out of the sun!

Love him to pieces!!! Crazy child did not want to get out of the water! He was wriggled!!! 

A day at the Lake

Yesterday, we headed out to Lake Norman to help my grandmother with a few things around her house. We tagged along with my parents and I more or less watched the kids while Jeremy helped my dad to rebuild part of her back shed. The kids had a blast hanging out in another place besides their house and I enjoyed getting out of the house and hanging with my Nana and mom. 

After naps, or lack there of, we got the water hose out for the kids. Noah loved every minute of it. 

but Seth was a little unsure and Grammy ended up getting in the sprinker with him. 

We took Noah fishing in the afternoon but it was so hot the fish were not out. Poor thing.

He still enjoyed catching the fish!

They were exhausted from having such a good time and passed out on the way home. Noah was drooling very badly and Seth was precious just sitting so peaceful!

PIckin' Strawberries!

Saturday night, we headed out to a strawberry farm with our good friends the Jenkins's. We are always looking for something fun and kid friendly to do with the kids. The men thought it was a bit "awkward" to pick strawberries but secretly I think they had a great time!

Seth got the hang of it quick. He would find a red strawberry and put it into bus bucket. Then he managed to squeeze them!

They did great to not "damage" anything in the garden!

Noah told me after we got him he "loved picking berries!"

And Seth, he ate a few as we picked. A little dirt doesn't hurt the body right?

We had a blast and I think we'll be headed back again for some more fun. They have a pumpkin patch in the fall and I think the kids would love it!

Movies on the Lawn

I had noticed in our little town there was a showing for "Movies on the Lawn" every Friday in the month of May. We finally had a Friday night that was not so crazy. I asked Noah around 8ish if he wanted to go see a movie! His eye lit up! He was excited. We packed our blankets and a few snacks and headed to downtown Mint Hill to see the movie "Babe". 

It said it would start around 8:15 but due to it being so light, it never started until 8:45. We watched about 30 min of it and then headed back home. Noah loved it. We state and talked about his day before the movie start and ate some snacks. It was fun to get out with just Noah. He was excited and talked about the movie all night and all day so far! So glad we had fun!!!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Seth!!!

I can't believe that Seth is officially 18 months old!!! He will always be my "baby." 

He's been through alot this past month. He has battled 3 ear infections in a matter of 4 weeks being placed on 3 different antibiotics by mouth and 1 shot given in the leg to hopefully clear his ears. Through it all, he has barely fussed and managed to maintain his happy smile with tons of energy. He is really getting to be a big boy. I look at him and I no longer see the tiny little 6 pound, 3 ounce baby born 18 months ago. He really is learning to talk so well. Last night at the dinner table he said apple. It was precious! Even his big brother can understand some of the things he says. Jeremy will look over to Noah and ask "What did he say?" and Noah knows exactly what it is! He walks very well but mainly runs at full speed. He does not like to be held but over the past few weeks with his illnesses we have got some good snuggles in! He will eat anything you give him except peanut butter. He grabbed the peanut butter jar yesterday wanting some of it. So like a good parent, I got the spoon out and let him try some. He spit it right back out! Oh. My. He stills loves his milk! He can be a social butterfly when he wants to be. He prefers his mommy over anyone! Which I don't mind one bit!

Seth we love you so much and can't wait to see how much more you will grow til your second birthday!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

There is no better name to be call then "Mommy"!!!! 

I am truly blessed to have these 2 sweet boys in my life. They are the sweetest and I am so glad I got to spend the day with them!!! 

What's up Thursday?!?!

Today, we had Seth's 18-mo check-up. It went very well. I took both boys and was not worried one bit about their behavior. 

Seth's Measurements...

Weight: 24.8 pounds (40th percentile - someone is eating good!)

Height: 32 in (50th percentile- he grew 3 inches in 6 mos)

Head: 47 cm (35th percentile)

This little stinker is doing great! The doctor asked all sorts of questions about his growth and development and he is right on track with the rest of the kids his age. The doctor kept laughing throughout the visit because Seth was into everything! All Boy!!!

Noah did great during the visit... he read a book on the I-pad and was very well-behaved. 

Next in line after the exam was the shots! OUCH! Seth got 2 shots in the legs but did super great! I'm glad I know a little about immunizations now because they were going to wait and not give some til later but I asked and he got them now! Better to get them all at once them broken up!

He did great and was a little fussy but over all had a great afternoon!

We came home and played and then the fun began! My dad was watching my sister's kids for her and there is trouble...

Mainly the 2 on the end caused the most trouble! The 2 in the middle were the sweetest and most well-behaved!!! Now one more day til the weekend... I can do this!!!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Noah!!!

It is 6 months til Noah's Birthday but he is busy already planning his party!!!

You might have got the invite from him... Monkey Joe's with a Mater Birthday cake please mom! He's told all kinds of friends about it. I'm hoping I remember his guest list come birthday time!

Noah is developing right along track. He's such an active kid with a fun loving personality! He can have a temper when he wants one. Loves to eat all kinds of food. He's learning how to write his name and has mastered how to spell "N-O-A-H". We're working on how to communicate with mommy and daddy when we get mad. He's got a smile that lights up a room. He's bumped his two front teeth twice in the past week almost knocking them out. He'll flash his little grin and some how manages to always get his way. He loves to go to school and play with his friends. And he loves church too!!!

His daycare does a learning assessment on him and he scored at or above for his age... Gross Motor (48-53 mo), Fine Motor (42-47 mo), Prewriting (48-53 mo), Cognitive (54-59 mo), Language (48-53 mo), Self Help (42-47 mo) and Personal/ Social (36-41 mo). He's currently a 41 mo kid! We think he's doing great and can't wait to see all the new things he learns before he turns 4!!!

Teacher's Gifts

Teacher's Appreciation Week is coming up on the next week for the kids school. I hit up a couple of Target's Dollar Spot sections and found some great things for the teachers!!!

I went with a "Strawberry Theme" since this time of year is strawberry season. I got them all kinds of cool "strawberry" stuff... strawberry water, strawberry gum, strawberry nutria-grain bar, strawberry Kleenex's, strawberry pens, strawberry notepads, and a strawberry coupon organizer!!! I think they are going to be super cute to give to all the Teachers!!! Hope they enjoy their gift as much as we enjoy having them teach our kids!!! 

Enjoying Summertime!

I get a half day during the week when I have to work the weekend. Well, it's coming up on my weekend to work so I got a half day. It happened to be on Thursday, which was a beautiful day!!! I picked the kids up at school and we headed home. By request of Noah, I got the kids a snack to eat since they would be missing it at school. I think they really enjoyed their Animal Crackers. Next, I surprised the kids with a " Do you want to go outside and play in the water?!?!" And they all smiled and screamed yes! Once we got inside, we changed clothes and headed out back. We pulled the water table out and turned on the sprinkler. (The grass needed to be watered!).

The kids had a blast! And it was so nice, I just sat and watched them play for 1.5 hrs!!! Minus a few tantrums here and there, it was a relaxing afternoon!

Noah had a blast in the sprinkler. Not Seth. He stayed far away from it. I don't think he liked water coming at him.

It made for a good nites rest!!! We had fun and I know we will be pulling the water table out more this summer!!!

"Shower's" of Fun!!!!

Saturday night, we helped to host a baby shower for a good friend of ours...

Kit and Amanda Henry!!! They are having their first baby and the girls decided to host a shower for them!

We planned some fun games! Thank you Pinterest for the great game ideas! I had the guys put a bib around their neck and then their wives fed them baby food of their choice. The faces were priceless as they ate...

The winner was the Walter's family... Great job Chris!!!

and rounding out was the Jenkins's family. I don't think Cody liked the baby food!

The next game was for the guys to drink out of bottles and see who would drink the fastest. Since babies drink out of bottles, we wanted to see if the men could too...
